David Alder

David is a Director and Representative of Alder and Partners Pty Ltd (AFSL 382714).

David co-founded Alder and Partners in 2010 and is a member of our Investment Committee. Continuing the family tradition (sixth generation) of providing financial advisory and investment management services to private clients, not for profit entities, and corporate clients, he has been employed in the Australian securities industry since 2001.

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Western Australia, and has completed both the Diploma of Financial Planning and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) courses via Deakin University. He has been granted the Certified Financial Planner designation by the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

He specialises in the provision of strategic and technical advice, self managed superannuation as well as portfolio investment management. David has extensive experience in investing, both directly and via unlisted managed funds, in equities, real estate investment trusts, interest rate securities and exchange traded funds.

David is Co-Chairman of the Western Australian Anglicare Winter Appeal Committee which raises funds to assist people to cope with the challenges of life and relationships.

Malcolm Evans

Malcolm is a Director and Authorised Representative (ASIC Number 349864) of Evans Rapley & Partners Pty Ltd (ABN 61 160 772 074).

Evans Rapley & Partners Pty Ltd provides financial services on behalf of Alder and Partners Pty Ltd as a Corporate Authorised Representative (ASIC Number 432213).

Malcolm successfully managed a number of small family businesses before commencing employment in the financial services industry in 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University and is a Golden Key International Honour Society member. He has also attained a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance specialising in financial planning as well as completing specialist education courses in self-managed superannuation funds and tax planning. Malcolm has been granted the Certified Financial Planner® designation by the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) and is a committee member of the FPA Western Australian Chapter. He is a member of our Investment Committee.

Malcolm specialises in the delivery of complex strategy advice in the areas of portfolio investment management, superannuation and retirement planning, self-managed and small APRA superannuation funds, taxation planning and estate planning. He is passionate about delivering superior technical financial planning outcomes and prudent investment management for his clients in line with their goals, objectives and risk tolerance.

Steven Tulloch

Steven has been employed in the financial services industry since 2005, working in a variety of roles across financial planning and stockbroking in Perth. He also spent three years working in Fixed Income Derivatives for Morgan Stanley in London. Steven specialises in superannuation, investment management, taxation planning and insurance.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Western Australia, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment through FINSIA and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) from Kaplan Professional.

Steven joined our team in January 2013 and is responsible for the provision of strategic and technical advice to clients. He also provides research and analysis for the Investment Committee.

Hilah Ahmadzai

Hilah began her financial services career in 2008 and gained valuable experience working in a number of technical roles within the financial advice industry. Prior to joining Alder and Partners in November 2013, she worked as an Associate Adviser for a non-institutionally aligned financial services firm.

Hilah holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia majoring in Investment Finance, Corporate Finance and Money & Banking and has also been awarded a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning.

She helps prepare comprehensive financial advice for clients as well as carrying out technical research and complex strategy development.

Hilah has been granted the internationally recognised Certified Financial Planner® designation by the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

Hilah is a Representative of Alder and Partners Pty Ltd (AFSL 382714).

Josh Metcalf

Josh began his financial services career in 2011 and has gained valuable experience working as an Associate Adviser for a leading national financial services firm.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University majoring in Financial Planning and has also been awarded qualifications in Margin Lending and Self-Managed Super Funds.

Josh has been granted the Certified Financial Planner® designation by the Financial Planning Association of Australia.

Sky Walker

Sky is our Investment Analyst and is responsible for analysis of equity, property and interest rate securities as well as listed and unlisted funds that we use.

Sky has been employed in the financial services industry since 2005 and prior to transitioning to the Investment Analyst role was a Financial Adviser specialising in the provision of strategic and technical advice regarding superannuation, financial and tax planning and wealth creation strategies.

He graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Commerce and has also been awarded a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning from Kaplan Professional.

Paul Nagle

Paul is a Director and Representative of Alder and Partners Pty Ltd (AFSL 382714).

Paul co-founded Alder and Partners in 2010. As Technical Manager, Paul not only provides our clients wealth management services, he is also a valuable team member providing clients and staff with advice on complex strategy matters.

Paul has been employed in the financial services industry since 1999 in a variety of advisory, professional standards and management roles bringing experience in analysing equity, property and fixed interest investments for inclusion in client portfolios. He completed a Bachelor of Business at Curtin University and has been granted the Certified Financial Planner designation by the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA ).

Peta Rapley

Peta is a Director of Evans Rapley & Partners Pty Ltd, which operates as a Corporate Authorised Representative of Alder and Partners Pty Ltd.

Peta has been employed in the financial services industry since 1997 working for non-institutionally aligned financial planning firms in senior para-planning and practice management roles.

Peta has extensive knowledge in the specialist areas of superannuation and retirement planning, taxation strategies, estate planning and the provision of Managed Discretionary Account services.

Her strong analytical skills and attention to detail, coupled with her wealth of operational experience in the financial services industry, equip her to provide quality service on a client first basis. Peta is dedicated to the efficient, accurate, compliant and professional delivery of financial planning and investment management strategies with honesty and integrity

Linda Katsikandarakis

Linda joined our team in May 2013 as Client Services Manager.

She has been employed in the financial services industry since 2000, working in boutique financial planning businesses. Linda has experience in many roles from administrator through to para-planner.

Linda has completed the Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning).

Amanda Hurren

Amanda has been employed in the financial services industry since 1997 working for various portfolio and superannuation administration firms and leading stockbroking firms providing administrative assistance to financial advisers and their clients.

She has completed a Diploma of Financial Markets with the Securities Institute of Australia and Certificate of Superannuation Management with the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia.

Melissa Alder

BSc (Health Promotion)

Melissa has been employed in the public relations and events industry for over 10 years, including five years with Myer as the Public Relations and Events Manager for Western Australia and South Australia.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Curtin University of Technology.

Melissa is currently working with us on a casual basis and is enjoying the balance between work and caring for her young family.

Richard Alder

A Fin FAICD

Richard is Chairman of the Investment Committee.  He has worked in the securities industry since 1965 and brings extensive experience to our investment committee.  He was employed by JB Were for 31 years – in Melbourne, London, and as a Partner and Director of the Perth office for 17 years until September 2003.

Richard’s responsibilities at JB Were included representing the firm within the corporate sector, advising professional investment and superannuation funds on their investment strategy and facilitating the placement of new and existing capital for ASX listed companies.  During his time at JB Were, Richard was involved in facilitating the capitalisation of local companies, such as West Australian Newspapers Holdings Limited, Alinta Limited and Wesfarmers Limited.

From 2003 to June 2014 Richard consulted to Australia’s largest ASX listed investment company – Australian Foundation Investment Company (founded by his grandfather, Staniforth Ricketson in 1928).

Between February 2008 and February 2016, Richard was Employer Director on the Board of Western Australia’s largest industry superannuation fund, the Government Employees Superannuation Board.

He was also a Board Director of Royal Flying Doctors Service (Western Operations) from December 2007 to December 2016.

Richard was previously an adviser to the Murdoch University Foundation and is currently active in honorary advisory roles at the Murdoch University Veterinary Trust and Scotch College Foundation. He is also a trustee of the JP Stratton Trust and Non-Executive Director of the Lions Eye Institute (since October 2017).

Robert Evans

BEcon

Rob holds a Bachelor of Economics and has been employed in the securities industry since 1970.  He was employed by JB Were for 38 years in their Melbourne and London offices, and as a Partner and Director of the Melbourne office for 16 years until September 2003.

While employed with JB Were, Rob was responsible for providing investment strategy advice to professional investors and was influential in capital raisings for ASX listed companies within the corporate sector.  During this period Rob was a research analyst of Australian listed companies, institutional dealer, and investment manager of Mirrabooka Investments Pty Limited for seven years (part of the Australian Foundation Investment Company Group) – seconded from JB Were.

Following his retirement in 2008, Rob has maintained an association with financial services by consulting in Melbourne to Mirrabooka Investments and two private family companies, and is a member of the William Angliss Charitable Fund (Vic) Investment Committee.

Rob was also a Director and Treasurer to Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School (1992-2009) as well as being a member of the Investment Committees of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (1987-2008), and the JB Were & Son / Goldman Sachs JB Were Superannuation Fund (1987-2007).

Oliver Stevens

BCom MBA

Oliver has worked in a variety of roles within the finance industry for over 20 years, commencing his career with the Commonwealth Bank where he worked in a wide range of roles, including Commercial Lending and Asset Recovery.

Following completion of his postgraduate studies Oliver moved to the UK for two years where he worked as a Financial Accountant with British Telecom, having responsibility for all financial and reporting aspects of their Phonebooks business which generated annual revenues of £200m.

Since returning to Australia Oliver has worked in the Investment industry, initially spending five years with a Perth based investment firm as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager.

Oliver then worked for three years as an Industrial Analyst for Western Australian stockbrokers DJ Carmichael and Blackswan Equities where he also held the position of Head of Research. Oliver has gained significant insight and experience into the analysis of, in particular, small to medium capitalisation Industrial companies.

David Hadingham

From February 2010 to February 2017 David held the position of Investment Manager for the Clough Superannuation Fund, a $250 million Corporate Fund with just under 2,000 members. As Investment Manager David was responsible for the day to day monitoring of investments, idea generation, assessment and implementation. He was a member of the Fund’s Investment Committee and reported to the Fund’s Trustee Board. The Fund was in the top quartile of Balanced Superannuation Funds during this period.

The Fund invested both directly (equities, fixed interest, cash and property) and through some specific fund managers. The primary focus was on direct investment.

David was seconded the CBH Superannuation Fund (October 2010 to September 2013) to act as their Investment Manager during a transition phase for their Fund, while at the same time continuing his primary role with the Clough Fund.

Prior to his role at Clough, David had previously worked in Australia at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Audit). JB Were (Assistant Financial Planner) and Perpetual (Private Client Adviser).

During a four year period in London he worked at Brewin Dolphin Securities (Split Capital Investment Trust Analyst) and GAM (Hedge Fund Analyst).

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA, is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow with FINSIA.
