First-ever live-stream of Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholders meeting

Yahoo recently announced it will host the first-ever live-stream of the annual shareholders meeting of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.

Yahoo Finance’s live coverage of the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting will commence at 8.00am from Ohama, Nebraska, USA on Saturday 30 April (9.00pm Perth, WA time).

Coverage will also include highlights surrounding the famed shareholders meeting such as visits to Gorat’s Steakhouse, Borsheims (the jewellery store majority owned by Buffett), the Nebraska Furniture Mart and the “carnival-like atmosphere” of the exhibition hall where Berkshire’s subsidiaries will pitch their products and services.

Often called “The Woodstock of Capitalism,” the Berkshire gathering draws tens of thousands of people to hear the Oracle of Omaha talk about the financial landscape and deliver updates on the company’s business units. The conglomerate’s event has previously been unavailable to the general public, and Yahoo is treating it as if it were the Super Bowl of modern capitalist culture.

Buffett, chairman and CEO Berkshire Hathaway, said in a news release. “Over the past 50 years, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in the interest around our shareholders meeting. Partnering with Yahoo Finance provides us with the opportunity to reach more people than ever, in key financial centres around the world, from New York to China and beyond.”

The event will be offered in English and translated into Mandarin for Chinese viewers, although whether it will be a simultaneous translation, or subtitles, or a rebroadcast the next day is yet to be decided.
